The Temple Beth Am Men's Group shall endeavor to enhance the teachings of our Reform Jewish tradition, through spiritual and social development, opportunities for youth, financial support, advocacy, and community outreach.

The November meeting for the Men´s Health Project will be a Red Cross Blood Drive for November 21st. Everyone is welcome to donate! Donors have to plan well in advance about donating blood, since they can only donate once every 52 days. So, if you´d like to help, make sure you don´t donate AFTER September 29, 2010! Although we´d like to get a headcount, walk-ins are welcome.

At this event, we will also have a donation setup for Double Reds where double the amount of red blood cells is donated, and the plasma is returned into the donor. For this donation, a donor can only give once every 104 days. So, if you´d like to make a double red donation AND haven´t given blood since August 8th, please make an appointment ASAP. We will have the room and time for only 4 of those donations, so they will have to be scheduled.

Thank You - Brian Schepart
Back in the late winter/early spring of this year, our fellow Men´s Group member, (and past president) Brian Schepart told me of his plan to start a vegetable garden from seeds at his home, and transfer the plants onto Temple Beth Am grounds. Brian planted the garden, with the help of fellow members. He cared for the garden, and harvested the vegetables and donated them to The Food Bank of WNY. Please see the letter from Marylou Borowiak (President & CEO) and Michael Billoni (Director, Marketing and Public Relations) of The Food Bank of WNY. Great job Brian! Very well done!
